Los Andes Terminates Contract with Lautaro Torres

Los Andes Athletic Club decided to terminate the contract of footballer Lautaro Torres after his participation in the "Copa Potrero", a tournament organized by Sergio "Kun" Agüero, just a day before playing the promotion final against Colegiales. In a statement, the club from Lomas de Zamora declared that Torres' conduct constituted a serious offense and they were working on his contract termination.

"Los Andes Athletic Club informs members, supporters, and the general public that it has decided to remove footballer Lautaro Torres from the squad and we are working on his contract termination due to conduct that constitutes a serious offense," the statement said, emphasizing that the responsibility to represent the club required exemplary behavior and full commitment.

Furthermore, the club expressed: "It cannot be that we find out through the media that he played in the Copa Potrero." This incident was not unique, as other footballers like Agustín Minnicelli from Comunicaciones also had issues with their institutions for participating in this amateur tournament.

Los Andes, which recently lost the final for promotion to the Primera Nacional, thanked its followers for their understanding regarding this decision, made in protection of the institution's values. In addition to Lautaro Torres, Ian Vera and Juan Zarza were also released from their clubs after participating in the Copa Potrero without authorization.

San Lorenzo terminated Ian Vera's loan, while Juan Ramón Zarza, belonging to Independiente and on loan at Excursionistas, is in the process of contract termination. The latter footballer also generated controversy by being expelled for an aggression during the tournament.

These cases highlight the consequences for players who decide to participate in events without the endorsement of their clubs, jeopardizing their job security.
